Keep an eye out for those strong summer thunderstorm we get here in Northern Vermont. They pop up fast and come over Lake Champlain with some strong winds and rain. Make sure your gutters have been cleaned and water is directed away from the foundation of the home. If you have never done this – do it – clean your perimeter drains that run along your foundation to shed water from coming into the basement. If they are not cleaned then you may have water intrusion into the home. If water has been an issue in the past and you do not have one, a sump pump is a proper way to mitigate water intrusion in sub surface rooms.
Vermont summers can be a little wonky, but were used to it. Just take some simple steps to prevent water damage from occurring in your home.
